Remember Brandon McInerney, the teen who killed Lawrence King in 2008?News came yesterday that Brandon would be able to accept a plea deal from the D.A.'s office IF he pleads guilty to first degree murder.
If that's what McInerney chooses to do, he will face 25 years to life in prison as opposed to 53 years to life.
According to prosecutor Maeve Fox, everyone involved in the case is "keenly aware of this young man’s age. We are keenly aware of his developmental level, being that he was 14 years old at the time of the crime. And, we are also keenly aware that he is a very dangerous individual.”
McInerney's lawyers yesterday again stated that they were not ready for a preliminary hearing, so the case won't move forward until July 20, 2009.
