Chaz Bono Speaks

Chaz Bono is setting the record straight...with Mary Hart.

Bono, who announced his gender reassignment surgery in June, sits down with Entertainment Tonight for the first of a two-part interview, concluding Friday, just in time for November sweeps.

Here is a snippet of what Chaz had to say:

“I always felt like the male from the time I was a child. There wasn't much feminine about me. I believe that gender is something between your ears not between your legs. That is something I discovered in the early 90's. It was just a long process of being comfortable enough to do something about it. I was turning 40 and I thought it's now or never. I want to still feel vibrant and be able to enjoy my life in a male body and not wait until I am an old man."

Chaz has also posed for a photo shoot showing a newly reconstructed male chest, though there is no information as to what magazine will publish the photos.

Coming Clean, a memoir written by Chaz, is set for release in the spring of 2011.
